Problem

I can’t open a PDF file that was sent from the X: Drive

Solution

NOTE: Files in the X:\ Drive are for Project Managers, and Senior Management. If you have access to the X:\ Drive and believe that is in error, please contact the IT Help Desk department. Otherwise, follow these steps to open your pdf.

  1. In a File Explorer window, right click your document and select Open With

  2. From the drop-down menu, select Azure Information Protection Viewer

    1. If Azure Information Protection Viewer does not appear on the list, contact HelpDesk@hlw.com to install the program.

  3. If the file was sent through e-mail, you will need to save the file to your local computer before opening it. If you are opening a file directly within the X:\ Drive, skip to Step 3.

    1. Click the drop-down arrow next to the attachment and select “Save As”

  4. Save the file to any local folder on your computer, such as Documents, then click Save

  5. In a File Explorer window, right click your document and select Open With

  6. From the drop-down menu, select Azure Information Protection Viewer

  7. Azure Information Protection Viewer will prompt you to log into your Microsoft account, this is your @hlw.com email with your regular sign-in password.
