Trouble Opening Secured PDF Files From X: Drive

Problem

I can’t open a PDF file that was sent from the X: Drive

Solution

NOTE: Files in the X:\ Drive are for Project Managers, and Senior Management. If you have access to the X:\ Drive and believe that is in error, please contact the IT Help Desk department. Otherwise, follow these steps to open your pdf.

  1. In a File Explorer window, right click your document and select Open With

  2. From the drop-down menu, select Azure Information Protection Viewer

    1. If Azure Information Protection Viewer does not appear on the list, contact HelpDesk@hlw.com to install the program.

  3. If the file was sent through e-mail, you will need to save the file to your local computer before opening it. If you are opening a file directly within the X:\ Drive, skip to Step 3.

    1. Click the drop-down arrow next to the attachment and select “Save As”

  4. Save the file to any local folder on your computer, such as Documents, then click Save

  5. Azure Information Protection Viewer will prompt you to log into your Microsoft account, this is your @hlw.com email with your regular sign-in password.
