Speeding Up Remote Desktop Connections

Speeding Up Remote Desktop Connections

Problem

My Microsoft Remote Desktop connection is running unusually slow.

This solution does not apply to other Remote clients such as LogMeIn and ConnectWise ScreenConnect.

Solution

First, right‐click on your Microsoft remote desktop shortcut and click on edit.

  1. Click on the Display tab and change the color depth to High Color (16 bit)

  2. Click on the Experience tab and set your connection to Low‐speed broadband (256 kbps - 2 Mbps)

    1. Note: Applying this setting only removes certain Windows animations features to allow a faster connection.

To revert the changes, edit the remote desktop settings and set everything back to the best quality
