How do I verify my connection to the internet?

Solution

This guide will outline how to distinguish the different types of connection to the internet; connected via WiFi, connected via Ethernet, connected with no internet connection, and not connected.

 

Find the Connections icon in your taskbar at the bottom right of your desktop. These are some of the icons you might see.

  • Connected via WiFi

  • Connected via Ethernet

  • Not connected - WiFi connections available

 

Hover over the icon to see your connectivity status

Once you have verified you have internet access, you can test your speeds by visiting https://Fast.com for an accurate speed test.
